Title – Is the title of the page which will show in search results and the browser tab heading. Title and subtitle can be set by going to Appearnce -> Customize – Site Identity -> Site Title/Tagline
Title can also be edited in Settings -> General Tab
Permalinks – Is the permanent URL for an individual page or post. Defining the permalink structure defines the structure for the URL. For example permalink structure www.dreampress.co/2018/08/sample-post will mean every post created will have www.domain/year/month/post name as the structure. Its usually best to keep it as short as possible so www.dreapress.co/sample-post is the best layout typically.
Basic website settings like Title, sub title, URL, membership allowed, default member role, site language, timezone and date format.
Post setting most importantly Update Services which notifies search engines when you have updated your post or pages content. Paste this link of sites in Update Services to get your site ranked and indexed faster by search engines.
XML-RPC Ping Services
This is where you set what page is displayed as your home page. Can be set as your latest posts or you can designate a specific page.
Section where you set your commenting options like can users post comments and do they need to be signed in first.
Posts / Pages
Section where you build your websites pages and posts. WP Bakery Page Builder plugin makes it alot easier to build pages and posts faster because it uses visual elements as opposed to text. Without WP Bakery (Visual Composer) you would be limited to working with shortcodes, text based coding to build the pages.
Plugins is where you can add advanced functinoality to your website. There’s pretty much a plugin for anything you want to do from payment processing to backing up your sites content or creating custom sidebars. New Plugins can be configured either in a new section in the dashboard left sidebar or they sometimes appear under Settings. Depending on the plugin the configuration screen will appear in different places.
Section that allows you to create and manage your websites users including Admin users..
Themes tab allows you to change the overall look and feel of the website. There are free or paid Themes which can be installed in this section. Paid themes typically have more advanced functionality built in are more comprehensive then free themes.
ThemeForest usually has the best quality and lowest cost Themes.
Customize screen allows you main website settings, menus and homepage.
Some Themes use Widgets to control elements on pages and posts. For example Sidebars can be configured from the Widgets page.
Section where you create your websites menu structure and navigation.
Editor allows you to edit your webpages source code. Not recommended to change anything here unless you know what you’re doing. Can potentially ruin the site if you do it wrong. So always save the original code in a text file before editing anything so you can revert back if you need to.
